Conor McGregor insists he would continue to fight even if he wins Irish presidential election
Conor McGregor is eager to hear his name announced as a fighter, even if he wins the Irish Presidential election this year.
Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor appeared to hint towards retirement during a press conference on Thursday night. But just moments later, he declared that he was eager to return to the octagon, almost especially if he defies the odds to become President.
A meeting with United States President Donald Trump appears to have kicked McGregor’s political ambitions into a new gear. He is now regularly posting about his plans for Ireland, and even admitted he is ‘happy with what he has done’ in his fighting career.

Of course, are you crazy? That's part of why I want to do it. pic.twitter.com/n8RRmsWbUw
McGregor even claimed that it might motivate him further, telling a reporter who asked if he could fight and be president simultaneously: “F—ing right I will, of course, are you crazy? That’s part of why I want to do it!
“To be announced as the President of Ireland while having a fight? Imagine that. But for sure, hell yeah, hell yes.”
Conor McGregor’s interesting quote raises questions over potential retirement
For the past four years, McGregor has been out of action after suffering a broken leg in his UFC 264 trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. He insists that he wants a comeback, but admitted that he recently turned down the chance to fight in Alcatraz due to the offer not being worth enough.

And at one point during the press conference, he admitted that he ‘is happy’ with his accomplishments in his MMA career while he looks at a new ambition. “I’ve got two fights on the contract, I’m in negotiations,” he said.
“Last week something happened to me, I went to the White House and my heart bleeds for my country right now. So there’s a lot of stuff going on back home, I’m happy with what I’ve done. There’s something else for me that’s in my gut right now and that’s kind of where I’m going.”
