Colby Covington slams Islam Makhachev: "Just copying his daddy Khabib’s playbook"

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington has shared his thoughts on lightweight champion Islam Makhachev's potential move up to his weight class.

Covington is convinced Makhachev won’t take such a risk, despite talk of wanting to move up.

"Will Makhachev move up to welterweight? No. He’s doing the same thing his daddy Khabib did. ‘Oh, I’ll move up to welterweight and go for a second belt.’ They’ll never do it. They just talk, but they won’t follow through.

So he’s pulling the same stunt Khabib did back in the day—acting like he’s so tough, like he’s the pound-for-pound greatest. But he won’t do it. If he really wanted to, he would’ve done it by now," Covington said.
