Alex Pereira vows to ‘make some adjustments’ as he talks Magomed Ankalaev rematch just hours after UFC 313 loss
Just hours after his devastating title loss at UFC 313, Alex Pereira has reacted and talks a potential rematch.
At UFC 313 on Saturday, Alex Pereira was looking to break Jon Jones’ record for the least amount of time between four title defences, when he took on Magomed Ankalaev.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian superstar, his epic light heavyweight title reign came to an end as Ankalaev outpointed him over a closely contested five rounds, becoming the new champion.
Despite the large majority of the fanbase assuming that the Russian would expose ‘Poatan’s’ wrestling, Ankalaev got the better of him on the feet for a lot of the fight, which led to Joe Rogan labelling Pereira’s performance ‘uncharacteristic’.

Alex Pereira vows to ‘make some adjustments’ as he reacts to title loss
During his time as champion, Pereira was by far the most active at that and he bailed the promotion out of several occasions last year, headlining UFC 300 and UFC 303 on late notice.
Despite his devastating loss against Ankalaev, instead of taking a lot of time out, the 37-year-old stated in his Octagon interview that he will look to return to action as soon as possible and will likely return to training within two days.
The Brazilian was then backed by UFC boss, Dana White, who admitted during the post fight press conference that a rematch between Pereira and Ankalaev will ‘probably’ happen next.
“That’s it everyone, some marks but I’m good, I’m gonna rest a bit, I’ll be back like I’ve always done,” he began to explain in a video on his social media.
“This has already happened before but I’m good. I’m grateful for all your support, for all your love and always supporting me.
“I’m here with my people, my family and my team… Everyone’s here with me, gonna have some pizza, that’s that, life continues… I’m gonna make some adjustments for the rematch and I’ll be back much better, you can count on it… CHAMA,” he continued.
Magomed Ankalaev accuses Pereira of ‘running’ throughout UFC 313 title fight
Immediately following his title win, Ankalaev described that during his reign as champion, the door will be open for all contenders to fight for the title, having waited so long for the shot himself.
Not only that, the 32-year-old also flamed Pereira for his performance, accusing him of ‘running’ throughout the fight.
“I was confident, I kept on moving forward, I kept on pressuring him and he kept on running away from me, for 20 minutes this guy was running away from me,” Ankalaev claimed during the post-fight press conference.
“And then I heard at the end of the fight he said he wasn’t sure why the victory wasn’t given to him, who’s supposed to be given the victory? I was pressuring him the entire fight, he was running for 20 minutes and then he’s wondering who’s supposed to get the victory?
“I’m happy to do a rematch if he wants a rematch but then maybe in the rematch he can fight for real and not run away the whole time,” Ankalaev continued.
